The UCLA Herbarium Library is a non-circulating collection specializing in books and other ephemeral materials associated with the study of plants. The collection maintains a focus on floras and biogeographical studies of plants from Mediterranean ecosystems worldwide including California, Chile, the Mediterranean basin, Southwestern Australia, and the Cape Region of South Africa. Other important geographic holdings include literature on plants from Malaysia, Australia, Hawaii, South America, Mesoamerica, and the Southwestern United States. In addition, subjects pertaining to Plants & People (religion, spirituality, herbal medicine, edible plants, toxins) as well as intersections of humans with conservation and ecology are also held.

THANK YOU, PHILIP RUNDEL
Thank you to Philip Rundel, Distinguished Professor Emeritus and former director of the Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Garden, for his generous gift that establishes the Philip Rundel Herbarium Library Endowment. This Endowment will ensure that the library’s collection, located within a beautifully renovated herbarium in the La Kretz Botany Building, will be cataloged, curated, and well-used.
