Herbarium loans are made only through other herbaria. Specimen loans are for phylogenetic, taxonomic, and ecological research projects of vascular plants only and cannot be used for any commercial purpose. Loans are made for approximately one year. If further time is required, an extension should be requested. All loan specimens should be annotated. During the loan period, all specimens should be stored in metal cabinets and protected from insects, humidity, and other damage. Specimens should be handled with care, and not folded, bent, or laid face down. In the event that small pieces of plant material have become detached, please put loose material in attached paper packets. Plant specimens must not be dissected without prior written approval from a curator.
Please contact us through email and we will provide you with additional information and necessary forms. Requests for specimen loans should be made by the curator/manager of the receiving herbarium.
