Commencement FAQs
As a graduate, what time do I need to arrive?
All graduates should arrive by 9:00 a.m. to LATC. Graduates enter through Gate A. All graduates should have a Student Ticket issued by CTO. Tickets can either be printed or shown on phone and will be scanned at gate.
What time do my guests need to arrive?
All guests will line up alongside the wall West of Drake Stadium, along Charles E. Young Drive West. The gates will open at 9:00 a.m., one hour prior to the start of the ceremony. They can begin lining up at any time.
How do my guests enter?
When the events staff begins moving the lines for entry, ADA guests only (alone with their family/friends) will enter through Gate B. All other guests will enter through Gate D. All guests should have a Guest Ticket issued by CTO. Tickets can either be printed or shown on phone and will be scanned at gate.
My family member is in a wheelchair. Where will they sit?
ADA guests only (along with their family/friends) will enter through Gate B. They will then go along the east side of LATC to the elevator. They will take the elevator up to the seating level.
Is there assigned seating?
No, it is general admission seating. Guests can choose to sit where they would like to sit
Where is the closest parking?
Closest Parking are in Lots 4, 7, 8, 9. There will be shuttles from lots 2 & 3 to Luskin; Guests will have to walk up Bruin Walk from Luskin to Line Up for entering the stadium.
What are my guests allowed to bring?
LATC has its list of prohibited items. See attached separate list of items. Any items that may not be allowed in can be left with the bag check, either on SW corner of IM Field or corner of Pauley Pavilion. Guests will walk through magnetometers and have their clear bags checked.

Will water stations be available?
No. Guests and graduates are encouraged to bring their own sealed water bottle into the stadium.
Can my guests bring an umbrella?
No, unfortunately not. Hats and sunscreen are strongly encouraged.
What can graduates bring into the ceremony?
Graduating students are not permitted to bring bags except for small bags that fit the 4.5″ x 6.5″ dimensions and a sealed water bottle. Graduates will also have regalia checked to make sure there is clothing underneath and go through a magnetometer.
Where are restrooms located?
There is a building inside the LATC after entering through Gate D for guests near section 11 as well as through breezeway by section 4. For graduates, there is a restroom to be used during line up in the breezeway near the lineup area.
How long will the ceremony last?
We anticipate the ceremony to last approximately 1.5 – 2 hours.
Is there a livestream of the ceremony?
No, there is no livestream of the ceremony. However, guests are welcome to record any portion of the ceremony they wish.
Can I leave once my name is called?
No, all graduates must stay through the end of the ceremony. After your name is called, you return to your seat.
Can I bring my kid(s) on stage with me when my name is called?
No, the graduate seating is separated from the guest seating in the LATC.
Where do I meet my family after the ceremony?
All faculty and graduates will recess out through Gate A toward Bruin Walk. Graduates should plan to contact their family and friends via phone to connect after the ceremony.

Prior to the Event:
Tickets – Ordering Period for EEB Commencement begins FRIDAY, MAY 10, 2024, through FRIDAY, MAY 24, 2024.
Ticket orders and RSVPs for all Commencement activities are submitted during this period.
Friday, May 24, 2024 is the deadline to order tickets – no exceptions
ALL TICKETS are being issued electronically either through Apple Wallet or Google Pay.

Ticket Ordering for the College Commencement ceremony is now CLOSED for Spring 2024.
Starting May 2024, students may order their College Commencement tickets as well as their departmental ceremony tickets via the Commencement Feature on MyUCLA. Please read below for more details.
All ceremonies are reserved for graduating students who are eligible to participate. You are eligible to participate in June Commencement if:
- You completed all degree requirements and graduated in Fall 2023 or Winter 2024; or
- You are declared to graduate in Spring 2024 or Summer 2024

TICKET ORDERING for DEPARTMENT EVENTS begins on Friday of Week 6, and ends on Friday of Week 8 @ 11:59pm PST. For the EEB ceremony, students may order a maximum of eight (8) tickets. The first four (4) tickets are free. All tickets, including the four (4) free tickets, must be ordered via MyUCLA during the designated ticket order period noted above [Friday, May 10, 2024 – Friday, May 24, 2024]. Additional tickets are $20.00 per ticket; The charges will billed directly to the student’s BruinBill account at the end of May.
After a ticket order is placed, students will be charged whether or not the tickets were picked up or used.
Students must still order the four (4) free tickets when they enter their RSVP for the EEB Commencement Celebration.
All invited guests must have a ticket to attend except for infants or small children who would sit on an adult’s lap during the ceremony. Participating students do not need a ticket for the EEB Commencement Celebration. Note: Revenue generated by ticket sales covers the cost of the EEB Commencement Celebration.
**TICKET DISTRIBUTION takes place from Tuesday of Week 9 through Thursday, June 13, 2024. The Central Ticket Office (CTO) sends the tickets via email messages from cto@tickets.ucla.edu. Their messages contain the links for you to receive your electronic tickets. Please be sure to check that your email account is accurate in MyUCLA, and also check your email account’s SPAM folder frequently, to be sure you do not overlook these important messages. For the College Commencement, you will receive two messages: One with the link to receive your graduate ticket and the other with the link to receive your guest tickets. You need BOTH messages, so look for both messages both in your email box and in your SPAM folder. You will receive your department or professional school ceremony tickets in a separate set of email messages.**
DAY OF THE EVENT
Students must arrive by 9:00AM and report to Gate A of the Los Angeles Tennis Center and already dressed in the cap and gown. Students should also have their NAME CARD with them.
EEB EXIT SURVEY AND NAME CARD
Name Cards will be available for pick-up beginning on TUESDAY, MAY 30, 2023, at the EEB Undergraduate Office (101 Hershey Hall). There may be Name Cards available on the day of the EEB Commencement Celebration.
In order to obtain the Name Card prior to the EEB Commencement Celebration, students must complete the EEB Exit Survey and show the confirmation that is displayed upon completion of the survey. A link to the EEB Exit Survey or can be found by going to Tinyurl.com/EEBExit2024. Note: The EEB Exit Survey is separate from the UCLA Senior Survey.
EEB COMMENCEMENT STUDENT SPEAKER & SINGER OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM / UCLA ALMA MATER
The Student Speaker and the Student Singer lead the two lines of graduates into Wilson Plaza and sit on stage during the ceremony.
Auditions for both the Student Speaker and Singer are scheduled for THURSDAY, MAY 30, 2024, from 1:30-4:00PM (location TBA).
To request an audition, send a message to Message Center no later than WEDNESDAY MAY 22, 2024, at 3:00PM with the following information:
(1) First and Last Name
(2) UID
(3) Major/Minor – must be officially declared as an EEB Major or Minor.
In the Subject line, indicate if you are applying to be the “Student Speaker” or the “Student Singer.” If you are auditioning to be the Speaker, please include the text of your speech (maximum five minutes in length) as an attachment to your message. Singers will sing the National Anthem and the UCLA Alma Mater a cappella at their audition. Note: If you are unavailable on the designated audition date, please send a message to Message Center to see if alternate arrangements can be made.
