LSRS – Life Science Research Storage
What is it?
File storage for use by departmental research labs. Currently there is X TB of space that is highly redundant, with offsite backups.
Directory structured
Each lab will connect to their own folder (share point).
“PI Lastname”- the “share point” has read only access at this level
“Lab” folder – “PI Lab” group and PI have read/write access
“PI’s UCLA Logon” folder – PI only has read/write access
“Collaborators” folder – “PI Collaborator” group and PI have read/write access
“user0” folder – “user0” and PI have read/write access
“user1” folder – “user1” and PI have read/write access
“user2” folder – “user2” and PI have read/write access
Access Control Lists (ACLs) are in place to secure folder access for user and group folders.
Usernames convention
“UCLA logon”@lsrs.ucla.edu
Connection methods
Mac (“Go” -> “Connect to Server…” or Command + ‘K’)
In “Server Address:” field: //lsrs.ucla.edu/labs
Click “Connect”
Input username@lsrs.ucla.edu and password
Windows (“Map network drive…”):
In “Folder:” field: \\lsrs.ucla.edu\labs
Check “Connect using different credentials”
Input username@lsrs.ucla.edu and password
