Congratulations to Robert and Zac

Postdocs Zac MacDonald and Robert Cooper recently moved on from the Shaffer Lab to assistant professorships at UC Riverside (Zac) and Virginia Tech (Robert). Zac’s postdoc was funded by the La Kretz Center, a Canadian fellowship, the California Conservation Genomics Project, and several grants from the USFWS. Robert, who received his PhD as a joint student with our lab and Greg Grether’s, was funded as a postdoc on grants from both the USFWS and the state. Both of them took leadership roles in all of those grants and projects, have plans to continue collaborating with the Shaffer lab on the conservation and landscape genomics of California butterflies and other insects (Zac) and the tiger salamander system (Robert). And that’s fabulous news for our endangered species in the state.
