Margaret Ramirez, undergraduate researcher, was awarded a summer grant by cureCADASIL for her research project “Assessing NOTCH3 Activity in a Genetically Diverse Cohort of CADASIL Patients.” This was an 8-week exploratory study, directly supervised by Postdoctoral Fellow Milagros Romay, using post-mortem CADASIL brain biopsies and aged match controls to test the hypothesis that CADASIL is a loss-of-function in NOTCH signaling.
