Dr. McDonald identified the mechanisms related to endothelial cell regeneration in large vessels, like the aorta. His results indicate that at least two populations of different proliferation kinetics contribute to endothelial repair following injury. These findings have significant implications for the repair of large vessels after placement of stents.
